JAMES POOLE

1987-2022

Edward "James" Poole passed away in the TriStar Summit Medical Center on July 19, 2022 in Hermitage, Tennessee at the age of 34. James was born on July 20, 1987 in Odessa, Texas to Ed and Sheryl Poole.

He graduated from Clements High School in 2006, followed by Full Sail University in 2012 with a degree in Show Production. He specialized in lighting design and enjoyed touring with bands. He began working in Houston, Texas with LD Systems and then moved to Nashville, Tennessee where he toured with several bands.

James loved animals, and had a habit of rescuing cats. He was a fan of the Houston Texans, even after moving into “enemy territory” (TN Titans!). He loved Marvel & Star Wars movies. He played roller hockey and ice hockey in his youth and maintained a love for hockey. He was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed camping and backpacking. In recent years, he had developed a love for kayaking. James was very artistic—he began drawing at a young age. In his career, he put that artistry to work. He considered concert lighting work as “painting with light”. He was very much a techie—he was a whiz with computers. He utilized that skill in his work with computerized lighting systems. He volunteered in the lighting booth at Sugar Creek Baptist Church throughout high school. His dream was to tour with a band while he was still young, which he went on to do with several rock and country bands. James also worked as a freelance lighting designer and technician. James was a hard worker and was well-respected in the concert lighting world.

James was a believer in Jesus. His favorite place in church was in the tech booth; he said that he worshiped with lights. In the last two years of his life, he was part of a weekly online Bible study through Bible Study Fellowship. His favorite verse was Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

He deeply loved his family. He was known for his long phone calls to family members, including grandparents, his great aunt Martha, and aunts and uncles. He was very generous, and loved to make people laugh - especially his family. He will be greatly missed by many.
